Brazilian Film Festival will screen 12 films at the PUCP Cultural Center

The second edition of Brazilian Film Festival arrives in Peru with the exhibition of 12 contemporary films that will be presented from May 18 to 24 at the Cultural Center of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (CCPUCP).

The event will present twelve contemporary feature films from genres such as romance, drama, biography, comedy, animation and documentary, all with great recognition in Brazil and abroad. The festival is a collaboration between the Brazilian Embassy in Lima, Linhas Produções Culturais and the CCPUCP.

On May 18, the date of the inauguration, the film “Provisional Measure” by director Lázaro Ramos will be screened. The drama is set in a dystopian future where the Brazilian government decrees a provisional measure in a reparation initiative for the slave-owning past. This generates an immediate reaction in the National Congress, which forces black citizens to migrate to Africa to return to their origins.

During the festival, films with great recognition will also be presented, such as “River of desires (Sérgio Machado), “Pureza” (Renato Barbieri), “Piedade” (Cláudio Assis), “Afterwards, I am the crazy one” (Julia Rezende), “ Monica and her gang – Lessons” (Daniel Rezende), “The Angels Club” (Angelo Defanti), “The Book of Pleasures” (Marcela Lordy), “The Next Door”, (Julia Rezende) and “ 45 of the second half” (Luiz Villaça).

As if that were not enough, for lovers of Brazilian music, the documentaries “Elis&Tom, it had to be you” and “Maria, nobody knows who I am” will also be presented. The latter tells the story of the more than 50-year career of Maria Bethânia, a renowned Brazilian interpreter.

The second edition of the Brazilian Film Festival will take place at the PUCP Cultural Center, from May 18 to 24. Tickets will be sold in person at the CCPUCP ticket offices. The seats are numbered.
