Carlos Vives and El Tour de los 30: a demonstration that you never forget where you come from [CRÓNICA]

Carlos Vives It is a little house from Peru. He comes whenever he can or presents a new record, and the feeling he leaves is that he gives everything for his audience. In a crowded National Stadium, in the Jockey and the extensive plots of it or anywhere. This time he had to return to present “El Tour de los 30 ″, a magnificent and detailed review of his musical career, represented in each of the hits that the Colombian has given to fans of his music.

Arena 1 on the Costa Verde was the setting chosen to receive Carlos Vives. The expectant crowd awaited the start of the show, and Vives did not disappoint. With an entry that was a waste of energy, the renowned Colombian singer began his presentation with the classic song “Pa Mayté.”

If “El Tour de los 30″ brings something different, it is that this show is a review of the hits (like every concert), but this one in particular, compiles the hits of vallenato, that rhythm born in Colombia and that Vives was in charge of to bring to the world. And that is where part of the success of the man born in Santa Marta lies, that he did not have to renounce his roots to be able to sound more, but instead brought exponents of other genres to accompany him at the party that vallenato represents. From Maluma, Ricky Martín or Shakira, also going through Camilo, Wisin or Daddy Yankee.

Carlos Vives’ repertoire included both songs from his album “Clásicos de la Provincia”, such as “La cañaguatera”, “La hamaca grande” and “La gota fría”, as well as songs from his more pop sound such as “Déjame entrar” , “Carito” and more hits. The artist took attendees on a musical journey through the infectious rhythms and nostalgic lyrics that characterize his style. From “La Tierra del Olvido” to “Fruta Fresca”, each song was sung more than the other by the dedicated public, who chanted and danced to the beat of the music.

Despite the problems in Arena 1 (sound, access and acoustics) that we have already mentioned in other shows held there, those attending the Colombian concert never sat in their corresponding seats again. It was a stand-up show from start to finish.

The concert started, the audience remained standing dancing and chanting the songs of Carlos Vives.

The torn jean, the short hair -and no longer like 30 years ago-, when his wavy hair was one of the elements that made him most recognizable, his stainless band of notable musicians who function as what they are, some cracks, and a choir made up of 3 phenomenal female voices. Times have changed, yes, but the music is still there, and if it’s partying, like the Colombian vallenato by Carlos Vives, then it’s time to celebrate these 30 years.

The highlight of Vives’ show came with the song “When we meet again”, a song that evokes feelings of love and reunion. And so it will be for Vives and his Peruvian public, surely, a reunion that almost everyone expects to happen suddenly.
