Harrison Ford on Indiana Jones: “I wanted to finish what was left unfinished”

american actor Harrison Ford (80) revealed his intentions by interpreting again Indiana Joneswhich were mainly to tell the end of the story of the character he met 42 years ago.

“I wanted to give him a new opportunity to finish what was left unfinished. Bringing back characters from the previous stories, bringing them all together and celebrating what they mean to others.”Ford explained in an interview for Cinemanía magazine, from Spain.

After the recent premiere of Indiana Jones and the dial of fate (2023), the fifth installment of the franchise, the actor was encouraged to tell the learning that he got from the character.

“I’ve learned that if you start with a good story, treat it carefully, respect the story, the audience and the opportunity you have to tell people stories, you’re already halfway to making a good movie.” Harrison told El Tiempo, a Colombian outlet.

On the other hand, the actor also remembered for playing Han Solo (Star Wars), narrated the way in which director George Lucas presented him with the script for ‘Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark’ (1981).

“42 years ago I received a call from George Lucas telling me that he wanted me to read a script. I told him that he was going to pick up my children from school. […]. I read it and I was like, ‘Oh, this is great.’ […] Then he set me up with Steven Spielberg, we talked about Indiana Jones for an hour, and that’s how I got the job.” Ford narrated.

The latest edition of the Indiana Jones franchise was released on June 28 in theaters. In its first three days at the box office, the film has grossed just over $100,000, falling short of previous delivery.

Indiana Jones and the dial of fate follows the story of intrepid archaeologist Indiana Jones, who embarks on an adventure with his goddaughter Helena Shaw (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) in order to get a legendary dial that could change history.

The mission will not be easy because an ex-Nazi, Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), who currently works at NASA, also wants to find the device.

The film has been directed by James Mangold and produced by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.. It has a duration of 154 minutes, that is, just over 2 hours.
