“Sound of Freedom”: “Netflix and Disney rejected the movie” with Jim Caviezel

The new movie “sound of freedom” (“Sound of freedom” in Spanish) premiered on July 4 in the United States and, since then, has caused a stir for its plot about child trafficking. But, even before its release, the film starring Jim Caviezel (“The Passion of the Christ”) was rejected by Netflix and Disney, two of the big streaming companies.

The movie “Sound of Freedom” has given viewers something to talk about because of the story they deal with. Although, the complications for the team started long before it even hit theaters.

The Mexican producer Eduardo Verástegui revealed, through his social networks, that he had a contract signed with Fox for the distribution of his film. However, shortly after, the chain was sold to Disney and the directors of the latter company informed him that they would not continue with the “Sound of Freedom” project because it did not suit the offer they have for their audience.

“I show the movie to the new Disney executives, my friends from Fox were away, and the group was honest and told me ‘this movie is not for Disney’”said Verástegui.

After this first rejection, the producer tempted his chances with the streaming platforms Netflix and Amazon. But no one said yes. “The film was already finished three years ago, I knocked on doors at Disney, Netflix, Amazon, Lionsgate and nobody paid attention to me”he stressed.

Later, he would arrive with Angel Studios, a company that accepted the project and they soon began to work on the launch of “Sound of Freedom”, which took place earlier this month in the United States.

Drama film “Sound of Freedom” tells the story of Tim Ballard (Jim Caviezel), a former US government agent, who quits his job to dedicate his life to saving children from global sex traffickers.

The film directed by Alejandro Monteverde has actor Jim Caviezel in the leading role, who is accompanied by Mira Sorvino and Bill Camp on the big screen.
