Spanish actress Penelope Cruz has been the great absent this Thursday in the presentation at the Venice Festival of “Ferrari”, a film by Michael Mann about the life of the creator of the legendary Italian team in which he puts himself in the shoes of his wife Laura.
The press conference to present the film, which is competing for the Golden Lion, was attended by both Mann and Adam Driver, who puts himself in the shoes of Enzo Ferrari, and the actor Patrick Dempsey, who plays the pilot Piero Taruffi, a despite the actors’ strike in Hollywood.
The American Actors Union (SAG-AFTRA), on strike since July 14, prevents its associates from working on filming, but also from participating in red carpets, interviews or colloquiums.
However, since “Ferrari” is an independent production of the Alliance of Film and Television Producers (AMPTP), which includes the large studios and platforms, the union has given permission to the actors of this film to participate in the Venetian contest. .
At first the organizers counted on the assistance of the Spanish star, as indicated yesterday at a press conference by the director of the Mostra Alberto Barbera, but finally she explained that she could not travel to Venice for “personal reasons”.
