The Dominican singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra announced this Friday that next year what will be his first foray into cinema will be released, the animated film “Captain Wasp”, of which he is the producer.
The artist wrote on his Instagram account: “This is my first animated film “Captain Wasp”. Premiere 2024. I hope you enjoy it!!
The announcement is accompanied by a short video showing the presentation of the film with the letters “Captain Wasp” and ending with the title: “A film by Juan Luis Guerra.”
The author, performer and composer announced in 2019 that he would venture into cinema and some time later he became known after he would do so with the production of an animated film. The soundtrack and the voice of a character will also be provided by Guerra.
The Dominican is the creator of hits like “I hope it rains coffee”, “La bilirrubina”, “Frío, frio”, “Bachata rosa” or “El Niágara en bicicleta”.
Regarding the film, Guerra said several years ago that it would be inspired by another of his hits: “The Wasps,” a theme in line with his religious beliefs.
Guerra also expressed that he made progress in the production of “Captain Wasp” during the confinement forced by the covid-19 pandemic.
