Oppenheimer arrives as a favorite at the 2024 Oscars: he won the Producers Union award

The movie ‘Oppenheimer‘ was recognized this Sunday at the 35th Producers Guild of the United States Awards with the Darryl F. Zanuck award, the most relevant of those the guild gives each season.

Filmmaker Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, Chuck Roven and their production team took home this award for excellence that works as a thermometer for the Oscars, which will be presented on March 10 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and to which this film is a great favorite.

The award for best production of a film in animated format went to ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, a film with great popular acceptance this year by the Sony Pictures factory.

In the television sections, ‘The Bear’ won the Danny Thomas award for best comedy series production and ‘Succession’ did the same in the drama category, named after Norman Felton.

While the David L. Wolper award for best production in a limited series or miniseries fell to the successful ‘Beef’ (‘Bronca’, in Spanish), which is earning excellent results for the Netflix platform.

At the ceremony, several awards for professional career were also presented, such as the one received by Gail Berman (‘Buffy, the vampire slayer’ or ‘Buffy, the Vampire Slayer’).

“When I say that not a single person on this earth was interested in buying that television show, I mean that not a single person on this earth was interested in buying that television show,” said Berman while accepting the award at the gala held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood.

At the end of the evening, Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro paid an emotional tribute to Martin Scorsese, winner of the David O. Selznick Achievement Award, whom he said is in a “transformative moment in his career.”

“The spirit of an artist cannot be tamed, it will remain vital, wild and even undomesticated throughout his career,” Del Toro concluded about Scorsese.
