Willy Rivera and Antonio Cartagena join forces for the first time to launch “Dime y dile”

After more than three decades of musical career, Antonio Cartagena and Willy Rivera, two of the most important figures in Peruvian salsa, released “Dime y Dile”, their first song as a duo. As if that were not enough, they announced that they will share the stage in “El versus del amor.”

With their new song, the renowned salseros aim to promote Peruvian salsa and will offer the best of their repertoire in the show that will unite them on the stage of the Bianca de Barranco Convention Center next Saturday, June 8.

“It was a tremendous pleasure to have recorded with Willy Rivera, because we started our solo careers together in the 1990s. We both marked an era in the rise of sensual salsa showing our talent and identity, something that had not been seen in Peru until then. “We have gotten along very well, we make a very cool duo, it is a perfect combination that is noticeable when you listen to the song,” said Antonio Cartagena, composer of the song.

“My gratitude to Willy for having accepted this challenge of recording together after 30 years of music and thus erasing the bad tongues that said we were fighting,” explained Cartagena, putting an end to rumors of an alleged confrontation.

For his part, Willy Rivera assured that the recording of this song, whose video can already be seen on YouTube, “means the reunion with a great friend, a great colleague.” In addition, he described the launch as a way to “pay off a debt” from the past.

To celebrate the release of “Dime y Dile”, the song that brought together Antonio Cartagena and Willy Rivera for the first time in history, the duo will perform a show that they have dubbed “El Versus del Amor”, on Saturday the 8th of June at the Bianca de Barranco Convention Center. Tickets are on sale at Teleticket and start at S/100.
