“Crying has been an essential part of my grieving”

The early departure of her grandparents marked the beginning of her journey and symbolic journey through the different stages of grief and widowhood. When he was 25 years old, the weight of his absence became tangible with the death of his father, followed by the painful farewell to his mother, both victims of cancer. Several years later, her sister and her husband Aldo Lira also left due to the same illness. But the hardest blow for Silvia Miro Quesada It came with the premature departure of his son Francisco (2014) due to an aneurysm. Through this whirlwind of absences of her loved ones, the journalist and writer forged a path of healing and rebirth, the same one that she today captures in the pages of “Renacer: resignification of grief.”

In her most recent publication, Silvia immerses us in her inner world, taking us by the hand with courage and sensitivity through her personal journey towards the heart of transformation. It is a deeply sentimental testimony where pain becomes strength; mourning, in learning; and love finds its place in the eternal cycle of life.

I had no intention of writing a book, but my friends told me to do it because I see grief and widowhood in such a different and transformative way that I had to share that knowledge and experience, and all anchored to a professional. I hope you contribute and accompany“, tells us.

In this literary installment, Miró Quesada shares his optimistic vision of life, in which there is no room for complaints, since he considers that every experience, even the most difficult, has a positive side that teaches and strengthens us.

I have no complaints before life or before God because I have the privilege of being surrounded by people who hug me and accompany me, those angels, as I tell them in my book, and who I am sure are beings who left before us and have been transformed. in what they are now“, she says after recounting the turn her life took with widowhood.

It reinforced the theme of individuality for me. When I was widowed, this beautiful black steed came called Renacer, which symbolizes the human struggle, the tireless sense of spirit and the resistance materialized in each gallop. Their manes wave like flags of hope and their hooves resound like drums announcing victory in the face of adversity. It started when Francisco left 10 years ago. Renacer accompanied me throughout that stage of my life. And when Aldo dies [su esposo, en el 2022] He knocks again on the door of my house, of my heart and my soul, and tells me: ‘I have to change your saddle, blanket and reins because you are a big woman and you need to fit better.‘”, says the founder of the association “A Few Days with Bobby” and author of the books of the same name.

But on this last trip, Silvia says that Renacer arrived accompanied by a golden named Anthea, “a dog that helped us grieve for my son. And when Aldo dies, a curious thing happens to us: on Facebook I saw a photo of a dog just like Anthea. He was Jack, he was 8 years old, and they were putting him up for adoption, so, we decided to adopt him.”

Silvia dedicates “Renacer: resignification of grief” to her son, her husband and Rómulo, a Jesuit priest, her great friend and spiritual advisor.

I resigned grieving because I found new meaning in everything that happened to me, even with the two cancers. I had to rethink my life again, I felt afraid, I looked for something to anchor myself in. Recently I realized that I anchored myself in my carry on, which I always have close by because it gives me security. I also resorted to the flowering bath, with the water, the shower, I threw away that porous skin that prevented the illusion, the opportunities and the good things from penetrating.”, he narrates.

Talking about her family and friends in this book was a great challenge for Miró Quesada, as it led her to face her own emotions in a deep and sometimes overwhelming way.

I cried a lot during this process. Learning to live without the physical presence of my husband, to enjoy the company of myself and find happiness in the little things has been an invaluable lesson.”, he acknowledges after detailing that the secret garden, a metaphor he uses in his book, represents renewal and finding oneself.

It is your mother’s womb, the place where you withdraw, it is the secret garden that we all have, but that we do not realize and we have filled it with weeds, with useless things. It is the antithesis of mud”, she clarifies to finally define this stage of her life as a journey of discovery of herself and the world around her.

It’s like an onion with layers and although sometimes the Tears accompany this process, I never dramatize. Crying has been an essential part of my grief, which although it may seem painful, was a way of releasing the accumulated pain, of allowing myself to feel and heal, and I hope that those who read my book find in it a reflection of life itself: a constant flourish and reborn”, he emphasizes.

Perfect chemistry

Doris Guevara de Prendel and responsible for the edition of “Renacer”, explains that to travel through the path of pain that Silvia went through it is necessary to resort to that spirit of a child that we all harbor within us, it is to play in the secret garden, with the flowering bath and different elements. “It’s exactly the same as what happened with Alice in Wonderland.“, he tells us after detailing that Personal Finance, the seventh and final section of the publication, although it may seem out of context, it is a fundamental topic in this one.

Many people will say: ‘What is the topic of finances doing in a mourning book?’, but that is important because when you are bad you let it go, you stay in the mud and you are no longer reborn. In the end, suffering without money is not the same as having to sort out that issue.”, highlights the editor.
