WOW, the telecommunications company that encourages access to culture in various communities through the internet

The telecommunications company wow He did things the other way around and it worked. They started in Ica instead of Lima, they started in Nazca instead of the capital city and built a network that is now in 22 of the 24 departments of Peru, before even advertising their activities.

“It is not that we have made a mistake or that we have preferences regarding places, but that we are consistent with this country that continues to grow just like us. That is why the priority was always the provinces, not with a spirit of differentiating ourselves, but of meeting the needs of the place.”comments company spokesperson Ricardo Muñoz in an interview with El Comercio.

Before arriving anywhere, Wow verifies the connectivity to ensure that it provides quality service. Even presenting fiber optics as one of the services they offer, competing with other telecommunications companies. “We began operations during the pandemic and since then we have presented the best that the market can offer: 100% fiber optics for all people”mentions Muñoz.

The first months were one of constant progress through the most remote places, seeking to expand further and further into the country, always maintaining its focus on decentralizing and democratizing internet access.

“In the end what happens with the arrival of the internet is that the community develops. It is not about selling, but about having social responsibility, especially we make a point in education”Muñoz tells us. It is this commitment that now maintains 115 schools nationwide with permanent access to the Internet, allowing them to improve the quality of their training and expand their access to culture.

Part of the success that WOW has is exactly that social investment – not counting its economic prices and high competitive level – because they believe that the higher the rate of people who benefit from Internet access, the higher the quality of life of the users. that they will no longer only use it for their daily lives, but for all their daily activities.

“Everyone goes to Lima for the greatest amount of purchasing power, but they forget that if the provinces develop they will be able to increase that purchasing power, which makes the market more dynamic.”explains Muñoz.

Not only support for education – in addition to its project in favor of sports – is part of Wow’s plans in terms of its social responsibility. Although no long-term projects have been finalized at the moment, its first step within this field begins with its commitment to the Luces 2023 Awards.

We saw it as an interesting initiative, since the interest we have in encouraging the cultural development of the country is an objective that goes hand in hand with ours in wanting to expand internet access, we agree on the philosophy.”explains Muñoz, who emphasizes the importance of both institutions. ““We must give value to bets in any area that, beyond any monetary interest, think that this is a country that can improve every day,” underlines.
