Estudiantes de La Plata defeated Vélez Sarsfield on penalties (4-3) in the final of the Professional League Cup after drawing 1-1 in regulation time and, in addition to winning the sixteenth title in its history, achieved classification to the Copa Libertadores 2025.
In an intense match played at the Madre de Ciudades Stadium in Santiago del Estero in front of more than 30 thousand people, Eros Mancuso put the La Plata team ahead on the scoreboard in the 14th minute and the youth player Alejo Sarco leveled the score in the 63rd minute.
Both teams ended up with ten players due to the expulsions of Damián Fernández in the Fortín in the 58th minute and Gastón Benedetti in the Pincha in the 69th minute.
With this achievement, Estudiantes reaches Vélez (11 local and 5 international) in the sixth place of the teams with the most titles behind the so-called big five with 16 trophies (10 local and 6 international).
