“Scream”: Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera present the trailer for the fifth installment of the saga

The fifth installment of the horror saga “Scream”, which includes Latinas Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera in its cast, presented its first trailer on Tuesday ahead of its theatrical release on January 14 of next year.

Ortega is one of the main protagonists of that first preview since she is chased by Ghostface, the fierce murderer, always with a dagger in his hand, from these tapes.

One of the attractions of this film is that the actors Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette will return to “Scream”.

In a virtual meeting with the media in which Efe participated, Barrera explained that this film presents “a new generation” of characters for the “Scream” universe.

“It is really ‘cool’ to be part of this incredible saga that we are all fans of. Continuing this story is something very exciting, “said the Mexican actress known for the series” Vida “(2018-2020) and the movie” In the Heights “(2021).

Barrera recalled that “Scream” is based above all on “surprises” and unexpected “twists” of the script, pointed out that she grew up watching these films, and assured that the team behind this new film has paid tribute to the legacy of the saga.

For his part, Ortega indicated that “Scream” has a very entertaining playful aspect for the public.

“It’s like a game that you have to play with the film and you are constantly trying to find out (who is the murderer)”, explained the interpreter of the series “Jane the Virgin” (2014-19) and the tape “Yes Day” ( 2021).

Finally, Ortega reflected on the importance of a large-scale project like “Scream” betting on two Latinas for its cast.

“It is very ‘cool’ to present our culture here and be part of a film that has such a great impact on people around the world,” he stated.

“Scream” is a highly successful horror franchise that, since the premiere of its first film in 1996, has breathed new life into the “slasher” under the direction of a more disturbing and unsettling movie idol like Wes Craven.

The “slasher” is a subgenre of terror that revolves around fearsome murderers who harass and kill, one by one and almost always with bladed weapons, a group of people with revenge as the usual reason.

Craven, who was also responsible for the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” saga, died in 2015.

Behind the new proposal for “Scream” is the collective of filmmakers known as Radio Silence, which is made up of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are the directors of the film while Chad Villella is listed as executive producer.

These three filmmakers presented the sinister comedy “Ready or Not” in 2019.
