The Mexican band Molotov confesses to being working on “new album”

Without contagion of the covid-19 after almost two years of pandemic, the members of the Mexican band Molotov They assured to feel anxious to return to the face-to-face concerts and announced that they are already preparing new material after more than five years of not publishing an album.

“We are preparing a new disk”, The singer and guitarist Tito Fuentes answered EFE at a press conference in Mexico City.

Regarding Fuentes’ response, the bassist of the group, Micky Huidobro, made a gesture to the singer not to speak more about the subject, so the expectations about the possible material grow.

“As we are not on tour and we are all unemployed, we are doing some songs (songs)”, added sources without adding more information.

The group, which this year celebrates its 26th anniversary, is celebrating this achievement by being the official image of the alcoholic beverage Fitzer, a “hard seltzer” whose design is the band’s own drawings and, as they explain, its essence.

“We can associate with brands of ‘chupe’ (alcohol) and anything that is harmful to health. But we love people who make artisan things and in Mexico there are not only international brands ”, Huidobro expressed.

But although the intention of the band was to celebrate its more than 25 years of making music, the pandemic overshadowed, since last year, the celebration of the most carefree Mexican rock band.

Due to this situation, Molotov intends to celebrate “as it should” and that idea is still present among its members.

And although the band has been gradually living the return to the stage, either from other countries or in the new ways of doing face-to-face concerts in Mexico, they consider that the emotion of face-to-face and unrestricted events does not compare to that of the new formats that have emerged from the pandemic.

“We have not returned completely, we made some attempts to return to the United States but it has been very complicated, we will have to celebrate when there is a ‘chance’ (opportunity) and when the health protocols allow it, because you have to be careful”, Assured the also bassist Paco Ayala.

Since its origin in the second half of the nineties of the last century, Molotov has been characterized by being a controversial and rebellious band as well as by the use of direct and ironic language.

Criticisms of the media and their ideological power in society, political satire and problems such as racism and migration abound in their lyrics, a situation that led them to be censored from the country’s major television stations.
