“Jagged”: HBO Max announces date and trailer for its documentary on Alanis Morissette

If you like music and you are a fan of Alanis Morissette, then it is important that you know that on November 18, HBO Max will premiere “Jagged”, the second chapter of the docuseries “Music Box”, which portrays the path to fame of the Canadian singer in the nineties and the launch of her most famous album “Jagged Little Pil” (1995).

“Music Box”, produced by Bill Simmons and directed by Alison Klayman, also includes chapters dedicated to Woodstock ’99, Kenny G, DMX, among others.

What is “Jagged” about?

In “Jagged” we will see how Alanis made her way into the music industry when she was only 21 years old. The path was not easy at all. The documentary will also address controversial topics such as sexual harassment. Recall that in 2020, the interpreter declared to Vogue: “If you are in the industry, you have suffered sexual harassment.” However, in “Jagged” he would provide more details about these abuses.

The production will feature comments from Alanis and also statements from people close to her, such as her former drummer Taylor Hawkins (now a member of the Foo Fighters) and Shirley Manson of the band Garbage.

Annoying alanis

In September, the 47-year-old singer-songwriter pointed out that the documentary is an inaccurate and hurtful portrait of her life. In a statement to “Vogue” magazine, the music star stated: “I agreed to take part in a job to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘Jagged Little Pill’ and they interviewed me at a very vulnerable time (I was going through my third postpartum depression during confinement). They gave me a false sense of security, but their lurid intentions became apparent as soon as I saw the first cut of the film. “

“It was then that I realized his idea and mine were actually painfully divergent. It was not the story I had agreed to tell. Now I get the shock of having trusted someone who did not deserve any trust. I have decided not to attend any events related to this film for two reasons: One is that I am on tour right now. The other is that, as with many unauthorized ‘stories’ and biographies that have come out over the years, this one includes implications and facts that are simply not true. Although there will undoubtedly be beautiful moments and some precise elements in this / my story, finally I will not support the reductionist version that another person has made of a story so full of nuances that they will never be able to understand or tell it “added the interpreter of “Thank U”.

For her part, Alison Klayman, director of the docuseries, told Deadline: “It is very hard, I think, to see a movie about oneself. I think she is an incredibly brave woman and the reaction to seeing her was that she was very… she realized all the work there was, all the nuances that went into it. And, once again, he put a lot of time and a lot of effort to do this, and I think the movie speaks for itself. “

The Canadian singer, who is turning 25 years old, is working on a television series inspired by her life.
