Kevin Spacey Sentenced to Pay $ 30 Million to House of Cards Studio

Thirty million dollars… This is the sum that Kevin Spacey will have to pay at the studio of House of Cards, MRC. The production of the cult series claimed, in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, that the actor’s departure caused them to lose millions of dollars. A departure for which he is solely responsible, since it was decided following “certain behaviors in relation to several members of the team in each of the five seasons of House of Cards, of which he was the star and executive producer ”.

MRC also indicated that it was because of Kevin Spacey that we had to completely rewrite the sixth and final season of House of Cards. A season that they had to shorten from 13 to 8 episodes to be able to book the books on time to the broadcaster, Netflix, specifies the Guardian.

Still guilty

If Kevin Spacey and his agents refused to answer the questions of the British daily, MRC welcomed this court decision, obtained after an arbitration by a judge of the superior court of Los Angeles. “The safety of our employees, teams and work environments is of utmost importance to MRC and that is why we want to push for accountability,” the studio said in a statement.

The decision comes after three years of proceedings, Kevin Spacey having appealed a first decision that was unfavorable to him. The actor’s career has been in free fall since he was targeted by several sexual assault charges, including by Anthony Rapp, who says he was sexually harassed by the star in the 1980s, when he was only 14 years old.
