“Spiderman: No Way Home” is the hug made movie. What does it matter if you saw the SPOILERS | REVIEW

At this point there are not enough superlative adjectives to describe what it is like “Spiderman: No Way Home“(” Spider-Man: No way home “), the third film of the hero directed by Jon Watts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Rather than criticize the entire movie, something that colleague Juan Luis del Campo already did, this text focuses on how certain character relationships are handled.

The importance of the past

Once his identity is revealed to the world, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) knows no peace but avoids receiving criminal charges. As MJ (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) are not accepted by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for being associated with the discredited Spider-Man; Peter asks Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to cast a spell so that everyone (the world, the universe) will forget his secret identity. The spell goes wrong and consequently villains from other universes, specifically from the sagas “Spiderman” (2002-2007) and “The Amazing Spiderman” (2012-2014), appear.

and that Sony Pictures complied. But beyond seeing them interact with Tom Holland, the presence of both is crucial for another topic. They appear when Peter loses Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), killed by the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe). The other Peter also suffered similar losses: Maguire’s to Uncle Ben in an assault he was able to stop; Garfield’s to Gwen Stacy; whom he tried to save, but could not. Guilt for these losses shaped their destinies.

. Talk to “Spiderman 2” (2004) and “Spiderman 3” (2007); also with “The Amazing Spiderman 2” (2014). They feed back. You have on one side the more mature Peter de Maguire, who is there to support Peter de Holland and also Andrew Garfield. The latter, a solid character who did not have a satisfactory final film. In “No way home” he says “I’m not very cool”, to which Peter de Maguire enters, who responds with “no, don’t say those things about yourself, you’re amazing.”

Quite apart from the meta-reference to the quality of “Amazing 2”, this is a behavior that is very much in line with Peter from the first tapes, not ironic, and whose phrases came from the heart. Besides, it corresponds to being a Peter who wears the winds with the confidence of one who has seen a lot and is ready to help.

All this present-past communication is fluid and, at times, painful. His character didn’t need redemption, but he got that sometimes we don’t get in superhero sagas, always looking for the next “hit”: closure. Something like that happens with Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman. Weighted and calm, he still wants to help Norman Osborn, because for years he thought of a cure that would have saved the character.

¿Fan service?

A very repeated comment in networks these days is that the tape has a lot of fanservice. The presence of the two heroes of the past is a way, first, to get money (the movie will be a blockbuster) and, second, to please the fans. This kind of transmission of feelings is hardly possible in a superhero film. “Endgame” had a lot of emotion and heart, but not at this level. Not with a character as tragic as Spider-Man.

And at the end of it all, it doesn’t matter if you get to the movie after eating a SPOILER of the many that, indiscriminately, some shared on the internet. In my case, although I did not come across any by chance, I did read part of the filtered plot of my own free will. And yet the impact of the scenes was not diluted. They say that in music there can be no spoilers, because it is based on repetition, on the pleasure of hearing the same thing over and over again.
