Occitania is no exception to the trend. While for several weeks the trend has been downward, in recent days the number of Covid-19 cases recorded by health authorities has stabilized or even increased over the past week.
[#Covid19] In recent days, the downward trend has reversed in #Occitania : the number of new cases has increased by 14% in 7 days. The call for vigilance remains relevant, to protect the most vulnerable and avoid a new epidemic rebound.

From May 29 to June 4, this translated to a 14% increase in the number of new cases. From now on, the regional health agency (ARS) counts daily 1,663 more cases each day while on May 31 there were 1,520 daily to have a positive test. With an incidence rate of 261.4 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Haute-Garonne is the most affected department of Occitanie, followed by Hérault (234.7 cases).
“This trend reversal is probably linked in particular to new, more contagious but apparently less virulent variants. It is also an evolution which is favored by a broad relaxation of respect for barrier measures at a period marked by many moments shared with family or friends, ”notes the ARS which however records a drop in hospitalizations of serious cases. Its officials call for vigilance “to avoid a new epidemic wave”.
