A spike in ozone pollution adds to the heatwave

In addition to being hot, the air is polluted. Haute-Garonne, Hérault and Gard are affected this Friday by a peak in ozone pollution. “The meteorological conditions – high temperatures, weak wind – favor the formation of ozone”, summarizes the Regional Air Observatory in Occitania (Atmo).

According to its specialists, the pollution episode should continue in Gard on Saturday, while wind in Haute-Garonne and a relative drop in temperatures in Hérault could dissipate ozone concentrations.

The recommendations for the protection of vulnerable or sensitive people are similar to those given for the heat wave: avoid outings during the afternoon or physical activities, and in the event of respiratory or cardiac discomfort (shortness of breath, wheezing, palpitations), n do not hesitate to seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
