Gabriel Attal ensures that no confinement is planned, but France is “on alert”

“We are on alert”, assured this Tuesday on France Inter Gabriel Attal in the face of the observation of an upsurge in cases of Covid-19. The government spokesperson relied in particular on the recent increase in the incidence rate recorded by Public Health France. “There is an incidence, a number of contaminations which increased very strongly again the last week, almost + 50%”, he explained.

Even if “we have reasons to be confident”, with a high rate of vaccination of the population, and even if “we have a situation which is less degraded than our neighbors”, “obviously there is absolute vigilance », He insisted.

No planned confinement “neither near nor far”

“There is absolutely no confinement that is planned today, neither near nor far,” nevertheless assured Gabriel Attal, while specifying, as he had already done on Saturday, that “you should never nothing to exclude in principle ”in this health crisis. “Today, there is no reason to think” that the end of the year celebrations will be tarnished by gauges as in 2020, but “the immunity conferred by the vaccine must continue and therefore that eligible French people do their vaccination booster, ”he stressed.

While this recall becomes possible for those over 50 in December, the spokesperson reiterated that even if, for the time being, “there is no integration into the health pass” of this additional dose, “There would be a logic in what, from a certain moment, that returns in the past”, as for the more than 65 years as from December 15th. “We built a wall thanks to the vaccine, we must prevent it from cracking,” he said.

Austria on Monday became the first country in the European Union to confine people unvaccinated against Covid-19 and began vaccinating children as young as five, as Europe faces an upturn in epidemic.
