Comet Leonard, which passed close to Earth on December 12, continues on its way to the Sun, and continues to dazzle observers from various countries, including ours, where the team of specialists from the Caral Archaeological Zone and the Astronomical Observatory AFARI, captured the celestial body from the ancient Sacred City of Caral.

While the archaeologist Aldemar Crispín Balta and the physicist José Ricra Mayorca carried out their research on the generation of knowledge in astronomy in the Caral Civilization, the presence of the comet Leonard (C / 2021 A1) from the front of the Main Pyramidal Building of Caral.

According to the image obtained by Ricra, in the same area where the comet is seen are the planets Venus and Saturn. “The comet is seen as a green point of light, with a small tail.” “The green color of the comet is due to the presence of chemical compounds such as diatomic carbon”, explains Ricra, one of the principal investigators of the archaeoastronomical studies of the ZAC.

It should be remembered that this year an article was published that reveals a pattern of belonging to different urban centers of the Caral civilization. The study highlights the importance of the Sun and the Moon in their productive and religious activities.

Cometa Leonard

This celestial body, nicknamed “Christmas Star”, was discovered in January this year by astronomer Gregory Leonard, a senior research specialist at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory of the University of Arizona (USA). It began tracking blurry light on January 3.

It traverses the inner solar system at 158,084 miles per hour (equivalent to 71 kilometers per second), but it will still appear as a slow-moving object due to its distance from Earth.

“This is the last time we will see the comet” Leonard said, according to information collected by CNN in Spanish. “It is accelerating to an escape velocity, 44 miles per second. After its acceleration around the Sun, it will be ejected from our solar system and could run into another star system millions of years from now. “
