This combination is delicious and nutritious, I can assure you that your babies will love it. The first weeks of complementary feeding I recommend introducing only one food at a time, in order to educate the palate of your babies and to be able to identify any reaction to food. Then they can get creative and make delicious combinations. I do not recommend porridge with more than 2 or 3 foods, so that the baby can identify the flavors.
They can accompany this porridge with an animal protein.
- 1 cup sweet potato
- 1 cup of apple
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/2 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil
Procedure: wash, peel and cut the apple and sweet potato into small cubes, approximately 1 cm. Then place them in a pot with approximately 1/2 cup of water. Cover and cook for 15 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes and add the extra virgin olive oil (the fat in the oil serves as a vehicle for better absorption of nutrients). Then blend and serve, for babies it is 6 months old. If your baby is older than 6 months, you can crush it with a fork to make porridge. The idea is to progress, month by month with the textures, until the baby manages to eat the family menu around the first year.
