The gastronomic side of Alessia Rovegno: the family bakery of the Miss Universe candidate

This Saturday, January 14, Alessia Rovegno will participate in Miss Universe, the most important beauty pageant in the world. The Peruvian representative is one of the favorites, according to misologists, to keep the crown, but in addition to dedicating herself to modeling, Alessia has a close relationship with gastronomy through the Rovengo bakery, the family business in which she also participates.

It was Alessia’s grandfather, who upon his arrival from Italy in 1949, with a lot of effort managed to set up a bakery. The first years were hard, there was no money and many times he had to sleep in sacks of flour to be able to continue maintaining his place. Until he succeeded, the Rovegno bakery achieved great prestige in Lima.

However, after the arrival of supermarkets in the city, the bakery once again entered into crisis, because its regular diners went to buy at these places, it is at that moment that they reinvented themselves and began to prepare à la carte dishes.

The Rovegno bakery has a varied offer of breads: French, yolk, ciabatta, among others. Prices vary between 1 sol and 4 soles. One of the most requested products is undoubtedly the classic Mini Croissants. In addition to breads, there are also desserts such as millefeuille and other pastries. Miss Peru Universe 2022 grew up among bags of flour and has never been a stranger to breads and desserts, so that, as a result of her famous chocolate brownies, her sister and accomplice, Arianna Rovegno started her own business, La Bambina de Rovegno, since 2016. But it was not until 2018 that “las bambinas” put their star product on sale: La Bambina Panettone, filled with fudge with Nutella.
