Somos Awards: Osaka was chosen as Best Nikkei Restaurant

The readers gave their verdict and after several weeks of voting they chose the Best Nikkei restaurant of the year. This food is not only tasty, but it has a great history behind it and represents one of the most important migrations that Peru had. Voting for this and the other 41 categories of the first edition of the Somos Awards took place between May 28 and July 2.

The Osaka restaurant was chosen as the best in this category.

Osaka currently has two locations. One on Avenida El Polo (in Surco) and another on Av. Pardo y Aliaga (San Isidro).

Juan Alfonso Urrutia and Rogger Quispe are its main chefs.

Gastronomy has been a key point of Somos magazine since its creation in 1986. Through its pages, readers have witnessed the recognition and transformations that have occurred in the Peruvian table; in addition to knowing the faces of those who are today the great chefs of Peru.

This is how, from El Comercio, new awards dedicated to celebrating our gastronomy in all its dimensions were born: the Somos Awards, which also include six special recognitions determined by a jury chaired by the journalist Hirka Roca Rey. These are the Best ceviche, the Best hamburger, the Best makis and the Best pairing or cocktail in Lima, in addition to an award for Contribution of the Year (a character with a transcendental impact in the field during the period April 2022-April 2023) and the Bernardo Roca Rey Award for Gastronomic Trajectory.
