Teresa Ocampo’s book is chosen among the best cookbooks in the world

The book “Teresa Ocampo, 200 years of culinary lineage”, published in 2022 by the editorial fund of Le Cordon Bleu University and with research by journalist Paola Puig, won two awards in the recent edition of the Gourmand Cookbook Awards.

These awards, created in 1995, recognize the most outstanding books in the world of gastronomy and wine, as well as television programs about cooking. There are more than 40 categories that are distinguished and in which there is an increasing Latin American presence.

As can be read on the awards’ official website, the book was nominated in three categories: Best Cooking School Book (Cooking School Books), Best University Press Book (University Press Books) and Best Women’s Book (Women Books). ).

“Teresa Ocampo, 200 years of culinary lineage” took first place in the last two categories: University Press Books and Women Books. In the Cooking School Books category, first place went to “Gastronomía del Meta Colombia” (Sena), by Ricardo Malagón Barbero.

In addition to this publication, a book inspired by Peru also received first place. In the category “Latin America outside Latin America” the book chosen was “Easy Perou”, by Lourdes Pluvinage (France).

The ceremony also had other Peruvian nominees:

Best encyclopedia: The truth of the grill (Juan Carlos Salazar Baselli)

Best magazine or newspaper: “Hedypatheia”, by Julio C. Navarro Falconi.

Fruit books: “Damascus: history, tradition and memory of Torata”, from the Municipality of Torata, Moquegua.

Women Free: “Reactiva sazón”, from Guardianas de la g astronomía.

Additionally, the Peruvian diplomat Guillermo Gonzales Arica, who died in the middle of this year, was highlighted in the in memoriam.

According to the Gourmand Awards, in 2023 18% of winning publications come from Latin America. In 2019 they were only 11% and in 2009 only 5%.
