New Year: this is María Pastor’s “raise the dead” menu

With more than 30 years of experience, María Pastor cevichería is one of the best-known fish and seafood restaurants in the Jesús María district. This family business had its beginnings in the district market and with effort, the founder – whose name the establishment bears – opted to grow in this industry.

“Our idea is to always offer quality food, with good ingredients, taking care of prices and always having options for all tastes,” says Pastor. Just steps from Plaza San José, the heart of the district, they have a two-story establishment where they offer their varied menu, which offers everything from the simplest and most delicious classics to curious creations full of creativity.

For example, its classic leche de tigre becomes the Power Milk thanks to the generous size – perfect for sharing – of the portion. In addition, it includes more pieces of fish and a fresh seafood mix. The chicharroncito is a must to give it the crunch that is so sought after in this fresh dish. They are served in large glasses that reach the table in an imposing manner.

A perfect dish to share are Fire Shells. Can you imagine the usual delicious parmesan shells but with a more interesting filling? At María Pastor they bet on adding a tasty seafood spiciness, which generates an explosion of flavors in the mouth. It is served with a small flame, which makes the dish quite a spectacle.

One of the favorites was Green Gold Ceviche. It is a delicious version that, in addition to the generous pieces of fish, the inevitable choclito and sweet potato to accompany and the precise level of spiciness, the juice has oriental touches thanks to the sesame oil it includes. The creaminess comes thanks to the good-sized pieces of avocado.

If it is rice, the Devil Duo offers a dish with its delicious rice a la brava, with spicy touches and rice with black shells, perfect to accompany a good ceviche or a jelly.

If we had to keep one dish from the tasting, the Cause the devil would be the chosen one. A cause with a strong crab filling and a soft yellow potato, is crowned with a succulent seafood sauce – with the perfect spicy touch – and with a selection of the same gratins: from prawns to squid.
