The creators of the brand are Ángel Cosio and Camila Alvarados. The couple also started the business in January 2021, in the middle of the pandemic. “We made a small production in which we invested 100 soles. We use the base of the preparation that my dad had in his raspadillas business. The flavors were the classics, such as lucuma, strawberry, coconut, chocolate and a not so used combination: maracumango,” explains Cosio.

He offered them for 2 soles and by the end of the week he had sold almost all of them. There were about 30 Martians left, which were sold to a friend of his and he delivered them in a box for his convenience. “I wanted to close the business, but this friend sent me motivational audios, where he told me that they were very good, that they reminded him of the ones from his childhood and he encouraged me to sell them,” he remembers.

Thus, the first day he decided to sell boxes (of 15 and 22 units, options that he maintains to this day) between 10 and 20 boxes came out. “At first, people questioned the prices, but I started posting photos of where I made them, what supplies I used, the quality of the water and everything. That gave them confidence,” says the entrepreneur.

The following year, they decided to create a workshop in which, currently, they have 15 freezers, a whole collection of the best quality utensils and a work team, with which they strive to offer the brand’s main proposal: artisanal Martians.

A menu for all tastes

They currently have 15 flavors. For Ángel, creating flavors is a process that begins at home, with some interesting idea that he tries with Camila. This is how curious flavors emerged such as Oreo cookie, pina colada (non-alcoholic), lemon pie and chicha morada.

Other interesting flavors are plum, Arequipeño frozen cheese and carob, one of the newest options. “All our recipes are with quality ingredients and we try to work with as natural as possible, with the exception of the two packaged cookies we use. We have seen recipes with stabilizers, chemicals or colorants, but we decided not to use them,” adds the founder.

If it is our favorites, one of the best is the chicha morada, which has the precise hint of cinnamon, the little fruit flavor and an ideal texture, since the essence of the water from the pacifier does not separate. Another recommendation is passion fruit, for those who prefer more acidic and refreshing flavors.
