Valentine’s Day: guide with five perfect coffee shops for a first date

Clamore Cafe

Under the motto “Fall in love with coffee”, this specialty coffee shop offers a varied selection of extraction methods, drinks and accompaniments ideal for a special visit. This is a proposal created by the Peruvian Coffee School, which recently inaugurated a three-story establishment in Jesús María. With comfortable seating, well lit and ventilated, don’t hesitate to visit them. In its menu we can find delights such as coldbrew with pineapple, really refreshing, sweet and with the right touch of acidity. To complement it, you can opt for a dessert like tiramisu or a sandwich, like a croissant stuffed with chicken.

House Lola

In the picturesque Jr. Domeyer we find Casa Lola, a proposal located in a beautiful Barranquilla mansion that presents a menu full of cravings for the whole day. Especially, their selection of coffees and drinks are excellent. For example, we enjoy the matcha latte, as well as the pink latte, which is caffeine-free but gets a lovely pink color thanks to natural ingredients. They offer dishes to enjoy an incredible brunch, such as their French toast or the filling sausage. You can’t miss the croissants with delicacy or the cinnamon rolls.

Cafe A Bistro

Created by chef Ashton Mullikin, Café A Bistro offers a small but well-executed proposal that combines coffees, alcoholic drinks, a couple of starters, main courses and delicious desserts. You can’t miss a good cappuccino or iced coffee, some of their classic ground beef burgers (for which they are widely known) and some sweet treat, like the delicious classic cheesecake they offer, baked and served with berries.

Amarena Coffee

Camila Unzueta (Bolivia), Laura Tibaquirá (Colombia) and Andrea Rodríguez (Peru) are the talented creators of Amarena Café, the space that won in the Best Coffee Shop category at the Somos 2023 Awards. On the menu we find everything from classic coffees like iced latte or iced Americano, as well as juices and infusions. They offer delicious and filling sandwiches such as roast beef, with mustard and pickles, served on sourdough bread. You can’t miss trying their delicious arepas (filled with cheese or with shredded meat). The sweet touch is given by their succulent Basque cheesecake or their salted caramel brownie. Its comfortable terrace is perfect for gathering this summer.

Coffee Bar

One of my favorite coffee shops is Barra Cafeteadora, created by Omar Moreno. From its cozy space where green, nature and coffee are celebrated, to its well-thought-out and varied menu, the proposal is coherent, they offer quality drinks on each visit and they take the time to talk and teach more about the methods of extraction, the origins of coffee and its importance in our country. This ‘point’ offers more than 34 drinks, between hot and cold, with milk, juices and even pisco. For example, sudaka is a classic espresso diluted with ice water, while hulkcito uses mint liqueur, coffee and ginger ale to create a refreshing drink. A perfect opportunity to enjoy and learn at the appointment.
