Holy Week: the most “sinful” Easter eggs you can get

For boys and girls, Easter means chocolate. More than one will receive an Easter egg or have fun looking for it at home; thus forming part of a tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. Over the centuries, the eggs have been transformed. We no longer find only chocolate but, now, they come with all kinds of fillings: pistachio, carrot cake, raspberries and more. This season, Lima’s pastry shops have shown off with decorations, each one more pleasant than the last. We present the most “sinful” versions. After seeing them they will want to fly out and buy one. SIENNA BAKERY

This attractive pastry shop always has delicious surprises. For Easter, they have launched an edition of giant golden eggs in two flavors: the first is filled with Nutella with a crunchy chocolate coating with hazelnuts; The second is a white chocolate with toasted pistachios filled with artisanal pistachio cream. They are available in large and extra large sizes. In addition, they have 4 flavors of half eggs: alfajor, brownie and fudge, chocolate cake, Nutella and chocolate chip cookies.

PETITE DESSERTS

Classic or new flavors? Camila Iturry asked herself this question when creating the sweets for this season. She opted for both options. Thus, it brings us 53% chocolate eggs with different fillings: alfajor with pot delicacy; toasted pecans and delicacy; vanilla and lemon; Carrot cake and brownie truffle with fudge and crunchy sprinkles. It also has fun themed desserts, alfajores and truffles for the occasion.

THE CRISTINA

The Sanisidrina bakery has prepared 3 varieties (all with 55% chocolate) for family enjoyment: pistachio egg, hazelnut egg and almond and raspberry egg. Everyone arrives with a surprise. This is a limited edition only available until March 31.

TOTELLA BAKERY

Combinations are the order of the day in this sweet space. They have prepared seven varieties of Easter eggs (made with chocolate from the Peruvian brand Kutiva) including: pistachio and raspberry cheesecake; 55% chocolate truffle with pistachio; brownie decorated with lentils; Carrot Cake; lucuma and brownies; alfajor and Nutella with Ferrero Rocher. They all come in two sizes: 12 cm. and 17 cm. They will be available until March 31.

THE IBERIAN

The traditional Arequipa chocolate shop launched its new brand “Fábrica de Chocolates” which, this Easter season, comes with hollow figures of Easter eggs and rabbits made from 40% cocoa milk chocolate. Eggs come in presentations from 20 to 225 grams; and the rabbit version from 40 to 190 grams.

ALESSANDRA PENNY

What started as a hobby became a whole enterprise that has its own ‘dark kitchen’. Ale Penny has prepared nine Easter eggs, each one more interesting than the last: smores, cookies n cream, pistachio, nutella, alfajor, carrot cake, chocolate cake, lucuma and sigh.

From the hand of master chocolatier Gianina Flores, come these Easter eggs made with 60% cocoa from the Ukaw chocolate brand. They are filled with nuts and hand painted in cocoa butter.
