What is being cooked for the 10 years of Tragaluz? During April there will be activities with guest chefs

When you visit a restaurant, have you stopped to listen to the music that accompanies your evening? Have you talked about the paintings that adorn the walls? Have you noticed the design of the menu or the texture of the tablecloth? Absolutely everything is part of our gastronomic experience and, in Skylight, have been polished in every detail. From the contemporary paintings of Mateo Liébana, through the setlist of Maysa Lozano to the avant-garde cocktails of Fiorella Larrea.

“Here we always look for that emotional connection at all levels,” explains chef Ricardo Ehni. “Smells, music, textures, flavors. It’s all part of a sensory experience [Tragaluz] It is a fresh and vibrant experience, which makes you celebrate,” complements the owner, Augusto Baertl, who is getting ready to celebrate the 10 years of the restaurant installed in Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel. Previously, in 2007, it operated in the summer season in Asia.

COMPETE IN LIMA

The team feels proud and excited to celebrate this anniversary, especially in a place as challenging as Lima. “Ten years is a milestone. We owe it to all our clients and a harmonious relationship with Belmond to exist as a restaurant for so long, which is one of the best luxury hotels in Peru. […] Not only do you serve the hotel guests, but you go out to compete in one of the most difficult and competitive places in the world, which is Lima as a gastronomic city,” details Augusto.

Sitting on the peaceful terrace, overlooking the Miraflores boardwalk, Ricardo is enthusiastic about celebrating this anniversary and those that will come with new ideas. “Expectations are high. I find this challenge very fun. We have many projects for this year. Definitely, I think that 10 years will be a milestone to take the next step,” says the chef who fell in love with the space the first time he visited it.

A CELEBRATION WITH OLD FRIENDS

The celebrations for the 10 years will take place during April. A first important date will be on Thursday the 4th with a cocktail to which clients and friends from the gastronomic sector will be invited.

Then, on Thursday the 11th they will have as a guest Rafael Osterling who will arrive with his team to design a joint menu for that night. The same will be replicated on Thursday the 18th with the company of Andrés Baertl and Liseth Díaz (from Troppo). “The idea is to invite chef friends. The funny thing is that Andrés, more than 10 years ago, worked with me,” remembers Augusto.

A little history

Other names and faces have been part of the history of this peaceful corner of Miraflores. Decades ago, instead of Tragaluz there was Ambrosía led by the remembered Marisa Guiulfo with the help of her son Coque Ossio. Before opening his flagship brand, Rafael Osterling passed through these kitchens. Later, the beloved Toshiro Konishi was in charge of the hotel restaurant.

Rafael Osterling worked in the hotel restaurant when it was called Ambrosía.

Over the past year, leading up to the current commemoration, they have been working not only from the gastronomic aspect; but in issues of communication, brand identity, music. “We have worked on all areas of the brand and the proposal to offer the customer a refreshment, but 360° of everything that Tragaluz wants to offer. It is seeing a new light forward,” says Augusto.

What do you expect for the future? Continue refining and improving the experience, in addition to reaching more and more diners. Tragaluz is celebrating its first decade and will pay tribute to all those who have accompanied it along the way; especially to his audience.
