Chef Juan Chipoco announces charitable foundation: “Things are not done just for money”

It’s Friday, May 31 in Miami and Juan Chipoco —Peruvian businessman and chef—has suspended all reservations for the night shift (for 800 people) at his famous and renowned restaurant CVI.CHE 105, located in the exclusive area of ​​Coral Gables, with one purpose: to carry out the charity event to present his book “Juan Chipoco. The brand behind the brand”, as well as launching the foundation of it.

The Juan Chipoco Foundation was born as a non-profit organization whose purpose is to ensure and collaborate in the education, health and nutrition of girls and boys in vulnerable situations, globally. The event held in Miami sought to raise funds, through the sale of the book and donations, for the aforementioned cause.

The preparations

Around one in the afternoon, lunch time, the Coral Gables restaurant remains full and with an unusual movement, which corresponds to the preparations for the event that will begin at 6:30 pm. Juan Chipoco—jeans, black polo shirt, and sneakers, awake since five in the morning—is sitting in a corner of the store, signing more than a hundred books, which will go on sale for charity that night. “The gift of reaching out by hand to those who need it is something I have had since I was a child…so I have always had this calling with me,” says the gastronomic entrepreneur in an interview for El Comercio. “Everyone has a purpose in this life,” adds the businessman who – also from a very young age – dreamed big and who started from the bottom, as an immigrant, more than thirty years ago in the city of Miami and who today has a gastronomic empire. Peruvian in the United States. Chipoco talks about “impact, inspire and help”. He knows that his story of struggle and success inspires the Latino community settled in Miami, as well as compatriots in Peru who still fantasize about the American dream.

“But things are not done for money alone,” he emphasizes and says that he is very excited about the birth of his foundation—Juan Chipoco Foundation—with which he has the desire to join forces with other non-profit organizations to be able to help more people in more countries and even in Peru. “I love my country. And if I can do something to help, always without expecting anything in return, that makes me very happy,” he says.

The big night

“I say it with pride: I have the Peruvian shirt on, I feel more patriotic than ever,” says Chipoco from the podium of the event, in the presence and great expectation of several national and international media, as well as dozens of guests—among the most Featured: singer Luis Enrique; Vince Lago, Mayor Coral Gables; the Peruvian presenter Pamela Silva and Raúl Diez Canseco, Peruvian businessman and politician—and her closest family: her husband and her children, her sister and nephews.

You can feel in the audience the great love, affection and admiration that the Latin community in Miami has for him. “I am grateful to this country (the United States) that opened its doors to me and has given me everything: a wonderful family, two wonderful children, a wonderful husband. I have no words to describe the emotion, affection and respect for what I experience every day,” adds Chipoco. Additionally, during the night, Juan Chipoco received special recognition from the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, as a successful businessman in the city of Miami.

During the event, attendees were able to enjoy a special menu that included cold dishes (cold kitchen), options such as crab causa, ceviche and tiradito de carretilla; and in hot dishes (hot chicken), options such as anticuchos, crab corn cake, ají de gallina canapés and truffled huancaína gnocchi.

Juan Chipoco highlighted his desire to contribute to society during the launch of his foundation in Miami.

“We don’t stop dreaming. We never stop having goals and objectives. “This is how this foundation begins today,” says Chipoco during the opening of the event. “Always with great faith…the goal is for my children to continue with this calling; “It is very important that they understand that many people need a hand,” he adds.
