Master cebicheros will compete in a contest for Cebiche Day

The cebiche It is the most representative and beloved dish of Peruvian gastronomy and that is why it has a special day to celebrate it: June 28. That is why the Economic Development Management of the Municipality of Lima has announced a gastronomic contest to highlight the date.

The Maestro Cebichero contest will choose the best masters of this dish in the city. The event will take place on Friday, June 28 at Pasaje Santa Rosa, from 11 in the morning, and promises to also be an excuse to taste this delicious dish in its different versions.

Different restaurants in the city will participate in the competition, presenting their best versions of this emblematic dish whose main ingredients are fish, onion, chili peppers, lemons, corn, sweet potatoes, among others.

The jury will be made up of three recognized experts in Peruvian gastronomy. Chef Fernando Pacheco, owner of the Caplina restaurant; Andrés Rosas, representative of the Mirasol restaurant; and Nilo Joao Do Carmo Castro, executive chef and restaurant advisor, will be in charge of evaluating each preparation and selecting the winner of the contest.

The activity will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

THE DATA

Since 2004, National Ceviche Day has been celebrated on June 28, a date dedicated to paying tribute to one of the most representative dishes of Peruvian gastronomy. Ceviche has been cataloged as Cultural Heritage of the Nation by the National Institute of Culture, which highlights its importance and value within the culture and tradition of Peru.
