Aviation Market: makis, hamburgers, tacos and everything you can eat for the same price in San Borja

The dynamic of ‘All you can eat’ is one of the most used attractions by restaurants around the world. For a single payment you can consume an unlimited amount of dishes and that freedom seems to disinhibit the appetite of diners, who take the opportunity to try everything. Although it is a well-known dynamic, in our country it seems that the options are limited. In this context, Mercado Aviación was born, the first gastronomic space to offer the ‘all you can eat’ experience in the heart of San Borja. Advantage visited this new space and here we tell you how it was.

Originally this space on Av. Aviación was thought as the third place for The Mexican, a well-known Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurant with great popularity. “The pandemic arrived and the project was postponed. Taking advantage of this boom in gastronomic spaces with various offers and the fact that we already had this place, we decided to explore with new food brands and that’s how they were born Big Maki and Cheat Day Burger, other of the spaces that are present in the Market ”, comments Fabián Arroyo, manager of this project.

A little more than a month ago they opened their doors for the first time and the success was resounding, hundreds of people communicated through their social networks and many went to the premises to enjoy their food. “We are still in a stage of white march, where we are very happy for the interest of the people and we are also learning on the fly in many things, all to comply with biosafety protocols and guarantee good care,” explains Arroyo.

A varied offer

The oldest is The Mexican, which, as we already mentioned, is dedicated to offering Mexican delicacies such as tacos, burritos, nachos, bowls, quesadillas, gringas and many other options. We recommend trying the tacos al pastor with pineapple, served with chopped onion and cilantro. The juicy sweetness of the pineapple goes perfectly with the well-seasoned meat. The special touch is given by the green sauce, which does not add spice but does add a lot of flavor.

During the pandemic, Big Maki and Cheat Day Burger. The first brand not only focuses on offering the already known makis, but is considered the first restaurante sushi food porn. This is due to the impressive and succulent creations that they offer such as tacos, hamburgers, pizzas, burritos and sushi hot dogs, that is, they are prepared using rice, fish, seaweed and the most classic ingredients.

We were able to test the Big Maki Xtreme Hot Dog And although it sounds like an intimidating combination, it is delicious and smooth. For the base they put together a kind of bread made with sushi rice wrapped in nori seaweed and breaded in nachos powder. Instead of using a hot dog, they fill it with prawns, spicy tuna tartare and crab, and serve it with cucumber, red cabbage, avocado and cream cheese. It is a different construction than the classic maki, but still you find it crispy, creamy, fresh and full of umami that we look for when we bet on this dish.

The second brand is inspired by smash burgers norteamericanas, a type of hamburger that during cooking is crushed, to form that almost crunchy crust outside the meat. Some of the burgers they serve come with cheddar cheese, bacon, bacon jelly, onions, pickles, and other tasty sides. They also have pulled pork sandwiches, crispy chicken, philly cheese steak (pieces of meat sautéed on the grill with onions and peppers bathed in cheese) and even garlic prawns.

They undoubtedly achieved success with the first Donut Burger From Peru. Exactly, they substitute two donuts for the bread and, honestly, the taste is more interesting than we thought. The meat is well seasoned and plays perfect with the donut glaze. The dough of it lends itself to absorbing the juices of the ingredients and each bite invites you to the next.

We finally found Square Pizza, a restaurant that bets on the ‘Detroit Style’, the kind of rimless pizza packed with cheese. Here, each diner can build their own experience by choosing the toppings they most enjoy to add to the pizza. A classic that never goes out of style is that of cheese with pepperoni, since the salty and strong of this sausage contrasts with the softness of the cheese and the dough, which is higher than that of a traditional pizza.

And, as if that were not enough, they also have The Tehire, a space dedicated to fresh and refreshing cocktails to complement the experience. His specialty is signature margaritas and on this occasion we were able to try one of jalapeño and green apple, very fresh and interesting.

The experience

To enjoy the experience there are things you must know first. The cost of ‘all you can eat’ It is 69 soles (includes drink and dessert) since they are in white gear, outside of this, the regular price is 79 soles. You can taste dishes from any of the restaurants without any problem. Of course, it is important to emphasize that due to capacity issues and biosafety protocol, three hours to eat, especially during the busiest times. The penalty for not finishing eating a plate is paying in proportion to what is left over. In other words, if you consume a dish that costs 26 soles on the menu and you ate half, you must pay for half and you can take it with you.

They also offer a la carte service, that is, you pay for each dish consumed. If you go in a group take into account that some are not allowed to opt for ‘all you can eat’ and others for à la carte dishes.
