Gilles Bourdouleix finally re-elected mayor

Gilles Bourdouleix (DVD) was officially re-elected on Friday mayor of Cholet for a 5th term in a municipal by-election, the June 2020 ballot having been canceled by the Council of State, announced the website of the town hall of Maine- and Loire. “Gilles Bourdouleix, head of the list of the Cholet Passion team, was re-elected mayor of Cholet to continue his 5th term, with 37 votes out of the 45 in the municipal deliberative assembly”, indicates the town hall.

On Sunday, the list of Gilles Bourdouleix, 61, came largely in the lead with 56.8% of the vote in the first round. “I would like to thank, once again, the Choletais for their renewed confidence in the @ CPassion2020 team. We hope for constructive work with mutual respect and far from any nauseating climate for the future of our city, ”Gilles Bourdouleix wrote on his twitter account.

Surveys target the town hall

The Council of State had canceled in July the result of the previous municipal election due to non-compliance with certain provisions of the electoral code in the second round. One of the lists had not been constituted in a regular manner, had ruled the Council of State, undermining “the sincerity of the ballot”. In June 2020, Gilles Bourdouleix, mayor since 1995, was re-elected with 53.95% of the vote in this city of about 53,000 inhabitants. The list behind the annulment of the ballot had obtained 46.04%.

In addition, three preliminary investigations were opened concerning the town hall of Cholet for illegal taking of interest, concussion, infringements of the regulations on weapons and forgery and use of forgery, had indicated at the end of August the public prosecutor’s office of Angers. The three preliminary investigations, entrusted to the Angers judicial police, had given rise to a day of search at the town hall on August 18.
