Reshuffle: Macron received Born to discuss “important issues”

This Sunday early in the evening, Emmanuel Macron received his Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne at the Elysée Palace to discuss “important issues,” according to the president’s entourage, confirming information to BFMTV, amid a government reshuffle that could take place next week.

If the Elysee Palace notably mentioned “bad weather in Pas-de-Calais and the arrival of a cold wave,” to which the head of state asked to “accelerate the response,” the government is suspending presidential decisions regarding the architecture of the new team in the coming days.

Thus, it was as if nothing had happened after he had already left his prime minister hanging during a one-on-one lunch on Wednesday. Ms. Bourne’s asset, which began last summer, is her resilience after passing two difficult bills (pensions, immigration) and overcoming nearly thirty votes of censure in the Assembly.

Emmanuel Macron has been considering his options for Matignon for several days, and two candidates have emerged: Julien Denormandy and Sebastien Lecornu. Even if a continuation of “Elisabeth Bourne” cannot be ruled out.

Nothing has been leaked about the head of state’s decisions yet. The president planned his traditional greetings to the Constitutional Council on Monday and then to religious authorities in the afternoon. For his part, Housing Minister Patrice Vergriete is expected to make announcements, especially on temporary accommodation.
