LR MP Meyer Habib will file a complaint against rebel Sebastian Delogu for distributing a video montage

Video editing does not work. The lawyer of the LR deputy Meyer Habib stated that it was staged. Meyer Habib criticized the “anti-Semitic video editing” on X and announced his intention to file a complaint.

The argument was triggered by a video created by an Internet user in which the faces of several politicians were placed on characters from the video game League of Legends. There we find MPs Sébastien Deloga, Louis Boyard, Mathilde Panaud and even Rima Hassan fighting with the boss of the National Rally Jordan Bardella, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron and Meyer Habib.

And on one of the scenes a box of pizza from the Buitoni brand appears, on which we can read “Stone Oven”. Some internet users saw it as an anti-Semitic reference to the crematoria used to exterminate millions of Jews during World War II, targeting elected Franco-Israeli official Meyer Habib. This “caricature reminds us of the caricatures of Jews in the 1930s,” LR President Eric Ciotti protested against X.

On the other hand, Meyer Habib points out the fact that in the video montage he is attacked and defeated by the French-Palestinian MEP Rima Hassan, who has been accused of anti-Semitism in recent months.

“They want to discredit me”

Sebastian Delogu is accused of sharing the video on his social media on Wednesday. According to France 3, following the controversy, he edited the clip by replacing the original pizza box with a cardboard box labeled “Pizza Kebab” and then removed it from the pages entirely. When asked by France 3, he denies any accusations of anti-Semitism in resuming the broadcast of this content.

He suggests that the pizza may refer to the pizza “brought during the Union of the Left’s negotiations” for the legislative elections in early June. A photo of a stack of pizza delivered to the ecologist party’s headquarters was indeed widely used on June 10. He also suggests that “the person who made the video wanted to hide (…) the arrow so as not to incite violence.” However, no other weapon is hidden in the rest of the video.

Sebastien Delogu already made headlines in late May when he waved a Palestinian flag in a semicircle and was temporarily expelled from the National Assembly. Following this action, he said he was “set on far-right and fascists” and a victim of persecution. “They want to discredit me. They find messages taken out of context every time,” he says.
