Carlos Benavides was announced as the new president of Club Celaya de México

New professional challenges for Carlos Benavides. The Peruvian, who held the position of general director of Club Celaya de México since June 2021, will assume the presidency of the team that participates in the Liga Expansión MX after the departure of Alan Achar.

The news became official through a statement released by the entity of the State of Guanajuato. “We want to make it known that as of this date, our current CEO, Carlos Benavides, will assume the presidency of the Club, who will continue with the line of work already outlined for seven months”, detailed the club.

In the pronouncement, the ‘Bulls’ also pointed out that among the missions are “Achieve certification first and then fight for promotion”in addition to the fact that Benavides must maintain “close communication” and shall “Continue reporting the progress of this project to the Achar family during this process”.

Carlos Benavides, who joined Celaya after passing through Bolívar, a Bolivian club where he was general manager, was happy with the appointment.

“A great pride for me to receive this tremendous responsibility of presiding over Club Celaya on its way to certification to be able to compete to reach Liga MX. I appreciate the commitment of the Achar family that they made for me to be able to work in Mexican soccer and have a club prepared and ready to reach the First Division”he wrote in a post on Instagram.

Carlos Benavides is a person who is fully identified with Sporting Cristal. The ‘Chino’ was a professional soccer player and defended the goal of the Rimense team for several years. Between 2004 and 2008, Benavides was the institution’s sports manager and, years later, he also held the position of chairman of the board and general manager.
