GOLPERU ruled after controversy over the 1934 national title

GOLPERU made an official statement this Thursday night, following the information it transmitted last Tuesday, in a special for the 121 years of Alianza Lima. In the program, at one point, it appeared on the screen that the Victorian team had won the 1931, 1932, 1933 and 1934 titles.

“On Tuesday, February 15, we broadcast, through the GOLPERU signal, a special framed in the 121st anniversary of Club Alianza Lima. Within it, a controversial issue was dealt with inadequately to the 1934 champion″, was the opening paragraph of the statement.

Lines below, the channel in question addressed the fans of Universitario de Deportes and pointed out that it is respectful of the institutions.

“On the subject, we regret having affected the fans of the University Sports Club. At GOLPERU, we do not take a position on any football club, nor on the 1934 title. We are respectful of the institutions, as well as the records issued by the entities that determine the official information on professional football championships.”, they added.

Finally, GOLPERU reiterated “Our support and respect to all Peruvian football clubs”.
