The problems continue. Roman Abramovich has received a series of sanctions that have directly affected Chelsea, the main one being the departure of his sponsors. The company ‘Three’ decided to step aside; and, now, Hyundai and Zapp would follow in the footsteps of the brand that was on the front of the ‘blue’ shirt and would stop sponsoring those led by Thomas Tuchel.

The first of them has been ‘Three’, which in 2020 signed a millionaire agreement to sponsor the team’s shirts and with several advertisements at Stamford Bridge. The company contributes 40 million pounds (46 million euros) to Chelsea that are now in limbo.

We have asked Chelsea to temporarily suspend our sponsorship of the club, including removing our branding from their shirts and around the stadium until further notice.”, said ‘Three’ in a statement.

According to the Daily Mail, Nike could also leave Stamford Bridge in the midst of this institutional crisis. The American company is the sponsor that leaves the most money in the club. In 2016, Chelsea signed a 15-year deal with Nike worth €1 billion.

The second company that is considering its future with Chelsea is ‘Hyundai’. The South Korean car company has sponsored the club since 2018, with an agreement valued at around 10 million pounds per year (12 million euros), but a temporary cancellation of the contract is on the table for the South Koreans.

Hyundai has been one of the strongest sponsors in the world of football in recent years and the company supports the sport for good. Right now we are analyzing the situation with Chelsea”, the South Korean company pointed out in a note.

Along the same lines, ‘Zapp’, a home delivery company in the United Kingdom, has also claimed to be monitoring the situation, waiting to make a decision on its links with the ‘Blue’ team.
