Real Madrid will wear a black shirt in the classic: the last time against Barcelona without the traditional white color

This week, days away from Real Madrid vs. Barcelona, the club from the capital of Spain announced the launch of the fourth kit of the season. Likewise, the institution announced that the new kit will be used immediately in the classic that will be played this Sunday (3:00 pm, Peruvian time) at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

The uniform presented by the madridistas is black, one totally different from the traditional white. Thus, without the tone that has always characterized it, the team led by Carlo Ancelotti will seek a victory, like the one they achieved a few years ago without wearing the club’s main jersey.

On August 13, 2017, Real Madrid took to the field dressed in green to face Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the first match of the Spanish Super Cup. Without the classic white color, the people from the capital had a very outstanding performance that gave them the first option to lift that trophy.

On that day, with alternative clothing, Madrid opened the account thanks to an own goal by Gerard Piqué in the 50th minute. Then, Lionel Messi equalized on 77 ′, but Cristiano Ronaldo responded two later and made a memorable celebration: he showed his shirt to the entire Catalan stadium and then saw the red one. In closing, Marco Asensio scored the 1-3 for Zidane’s men.

Why will Real Madrid wear black?

In a collaboration between the sports brand that dresses those in the capital (Adidas), and the Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto, who is celebrating his twentieth anniversary, they have created the Y-3 shirt model for Real Madrid.

“A special collection to celebrate a special moment. Our 120th anniversary”published by Real Madrid to announce the launch of its new kit in a video that is part of a campaign called ‘The Ceremony’, in which Karim Benzema, David Alaba, Marcelo, Ferland Mendy, Misa Rodríguez and Caroline Moller appear from the current templates, along with a legend like Iker Casillas.

Real Madrid will wear black in the classic and its goalkeeper, the Belgian Thibaut Courtois, will wear pink. “The association expands for a broader collection that channels a symbolic coalescence of dynamism and speed. Perfectly fusing sports innovation with avant-garde aesthetics”explains the sports brand in a statement.

Along with the shirt, black with the Y-3 logo on the chest next to the Real Madrid shield, a collection is launched that presents “a warm-up line, consisting of a jacket and pants, both with reflective prints”plus a premium elongated scarf and bag.
