When and in which cities will the Qatar 2022 World Cup be played?

Uruguay and Ecuador joined the other 17 teams that got their tickets for the World Cup Qatar 2022 which will take place between November and December of this year. Despite all the doubts, criticism and setbacks, FIFA has guaranteed a World Cup with top-level facilities to crown a new champion. Get to know the cities and the complete calendar of this great event.

It will be the first edition that is not held in the middle of the year. This edition, due to the host country, had to be moved to the end of the year. The start of the World Cup is scheduled for November 21 and will end on December 18, 2022. As recalled, this decision was made to mitigate the effects of heat: in June and July the Arab temperatures are around 50 degrees.

  • The group stage will begin on November 21 and will end on December 2. This phase will take place in the following stadiums: Al Bayt Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Al Rayyan Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Ras Abu Aboud Stadium, Education City Stadium and Al Janoub Stadium.
  • The round of 16 will be played between December 3 and 6. A game will be played for each mentioned stadium.
  • The quarterfinals will take place between December 09 and 10 with Al Bayt Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Lusail Stadium and Education Stadium as the chosen venues.
  • For their part, the semifinals have a stipulated date of December 13 and 14, with Al Bayt Stadium and Lusail Stadium as venues for these commitments.
  • Finally, the final will be on Sunday, December 18 at the Lusail Stadium, defining the team that will replace France as champion of the prestigious competition.

There will be 8 stadiums distributed in the cities chosen as venues. The city in which the field is located appears in parentheses in the list.

  • Lusail National Stadium (Lusail)- Capacity: 86,250 spectators.
  • City of Education Stadium (Al-Rayyan)- Capacity: 43,350 spectators.
  • Khalifa International Stadium (Doha)- Capacity: 50 thousand spectators.
  • Al Bayt Stadium (Jor) – Capacity: 60 thousand spectators.
  • Al Thumama Stadium (Doha) Capacity- 40 thousand spectators.
  • Al-Rayyan Stadium (Rayyan) Capacity- 21 thousand spectators.
  • Ras Abu Aboud Stadium (Doha) Capacity – 48 thousand spectators.
  • Al Janoub Stadium (Al Wakrah) Capacity – 40 thousand spectators

To date, some of the most important television stations that have broadcast rights are Fox Sports, Telemundo Deportes, BBC, ITV, Rede Globo, SporTV and beIN Sports.
