On a visit, before a packed Castelao stadium, Colo Colo was not intimidated at all when he was in charge of Fortaleza. In fact, the ‘Cacique’ had several chances to score a goal, but only scored one, through Juan Martín Lucero, after an assist from Peruvian Gabriel Costa.
At minute 38 of the first half, ‘Gabi’ sent a great pass to the Argentine striker and left him in a very good position to finish off. Thus, at first and with his left foot, Lucero overcame the resistance of goalkeeper Max Walef, who could do little or nothing to prevent the ball from entering his goal.
Gabriel Costa, habitually called up in the Peruvian national team, is a fundamental piece in the white cast directed by Gustavo Quinteros. The Uruguayan by birth, this season in the Chilean league, has four goals in eight appearances in the National Championship.
Colo Colo goes for the surprise
Colo Colo’s heavy artillery will test the Brazilian defence, which has only conceded nine goals in sixteen games.
Those led by the Argentine Gustavo Quinteros, leaders of the Chilean tournament with 17 points, have something to worry about, since their offense has been especially successful in the last four duels, in which they scored fourteen goals.
The attackers Gabriel Costa (4 goals) and Pablo Solari (3) will lead the attack of the ‘Cacique’, who in Brazil will seek to link his fifth consecutive victory.
“The team is focused and with a lot of conviction. We have to try to play in the rival field, be intense at all times and handle the ball. If we leave it to them, we are going to have a bad time.”considered midfielder Esteban Pávez.
