Barcelona vs. Frankfurt: the VAR failed and there was no penalty for the ‘Azulgranas’ | VIDEO

Barcelona was desperately trying to reach discount against Eintracht Frankfurt, in the second leg of the Europa League quarterfinals, but so far there is no precision in attack. In the second part, the ‘Azulgranas’ were excited about the option of discounting a penalty, although the VAR determined that there was no foul, after the problems that were evident during the review.

Everything happened on 56 minutes, when Rafael Santos Borré took the ball out of his area and, immediately, the Spanish club’s players claimed that the striker used his hand. Despite this, the Portuguese referee Artur Soares Dias did not consider that there was a foul and allowed the action to continue with its development.

However, 90 seconds later, the central judge paralyzed the match at the Camp Nou, since he received a call from the VAR, due to the possible infraction by the Colombian. Shortly after, the referee approached the middle of the field of play, where the monitor was located, with the intention of reviewing what had happened.

Surprisingly, Artur Soares Dias remained static, next to the lateral line, while his fourth assistant gave him an explanation. After a few moments, it was clearly understood what had happened: there were communication problems between the referee and the members of the Video Assistant Referee.

Furthermore, due to the inconvenience, Rafael Santos Borré’s move could not be checked on the usual monitor and the judge had to use a smaller screen. After a few moments of analysis, the referee determined that there was no penalty, to the regret of everyone in Barcelona, and asked to fix his microphone, to avoid further problems with notifications.
