Carlos Zambrano clarified the issue about his goodbye to football: “I never said that I want to retire now”

Some statements by Carlos Zambrano set off the alarms in Boca Juniors and caused surprise among the fans of the Peruvian team. A few days ago, the defender gave an interview in which, among many topics, he shed light on what is coming for his career. “I am one step away from retirement, at the football level I say”he indicated on Willax Television.

Naturally, the Argentine media echoed the central defender’s words that reached the ears of the ‘Xeneizes’ board. In fact, the newspaper Olé indicated that the inmate expressed about the ‘Kaiser’ case that “they did not expect him, he fell like a bucket of cold water.” So, in an atmosphere full of uncertainty, the athlete showed his face and clarified the matter.

“Incredible, I was surprised by the titles that came out. I never said that I want to retire now, my words are very clear in the interview: one step away from retirement, I am 32, 33 years old in a few months, and of course the footballer plays until he is 35 or 36, until he feels comfortable “explained the ‘Lion’ in a chat with La Red.

Along the same lines, Zambrano recalled that he has a commitment to Boca Juniors and also to the Peruvian team with a view to Qatar 2022. “I have a contract until December, then I have a step to play the World Cup, it’s not that I’m retiring now. The press puts things…”said the man who went through the German Bundesliga.

On the same subject, Carlos understands that, when the time comes, he will have to give way to the next generation. “I say this because of age, the normal thing is to play until you are 35 or 37 exaggerating, then you have to step aside because very talented boys come and you have to be aware of that”he asserted.

The present and the objectives with Boca

After the necessary clarification, Zambrano stated that “I am happy (in Boca), the interview was more than a week ago, it came out a few days ago, you know how the press is handled, it releases it when it has to release”. That said, the player slipped the desire to extend his stay in the ‘blue and gold’ set.

“I never said that I want to retire now, for now. I’m one step away, it’s reality. But I feel very happy here, I want to reach the World Cup and God willing, who knows, I could stay in Boca for a few years, I don’t know. Meanwhile, I have to continue enjoying being here”stated the former Schalke 04, St. Pauli or Eintracht Frankfurt.

Finally, Zambrano only thinks about what comes with the ‘Xeneizes’ at an international and local level. “We have two key goals (in Boca): the Copa Libertadores, where we have to ensure qualification, has been very difficult for us, and then the local tournament, which we are in the quarterfinals. We are still in the fight in both things. There is always talk of everything negative about Boca, but we continue in the fight ”hill.
