Tony Ferguson, fighter who received the KO of the year in the UFC, confirmed that he had lost his memory for a “long time”

Tony Ferguson arrived at UFC 274 with the mission of achieving a victory that cut his streak of three consecutive losses; However, things went very wrong for “Cucuy”. Michael Chandler gave him the KO of the year after applying a spectacular kick to the chin. This caused him to lose his memory and a “terrifying moment in the ambulance”.

I took a big kick to the chin last Saturday inside that octagon. He knocked me out for a long time. It was a terrifying feeling not remembering anything from the start of the second round until I got to the ambulance.”, ‘Cucuy’ confessed through his social networks.

Ferguson was immediately taken to hospital for medical check-ups. The CT scan of him showed no worrisome damage, though it wasn’t obvious that Chandler’s hit had affected him much.

He was given a 60-day medical suspension by the Arizona Boxing and MMA Commission after this terrible loss for his career. This means that he will not be able to compete or participate in any contact training unless he is cleared by a doctor.

The loss to Chandler was the fourth in a row in Tony Ferguson’s career, who was coming off losses in his previous three bouts against Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush. In that sense, Dana White, the president of the UFC, said in the press conference after the fight that it would be best if he took some time off.

The ‘Cucuy’ Ferguson wrote an extensive message on social networks where he spoke about how he should improve for the future: “I thank God every day that I made the journey back to reality. Joking aside, I didn’t mean to scare you all, I should have done things differently, like keeping my ‘hands up and chin down’. I have a lot of things to work on, not just compete. One battle at a time. I am not perfect by any means, but I will continue to strive for it in and out of the practice room. My movements are fine, my bones are intact and except for a slight headache in the mornings, I’m glad to be back and doing what I love. I want to be better than yesterday, not for anyone else but for myself.”
