Norwegian League: Icelandic goalkeeper accused of shortening his goal | VIDEO

Viking FK is one of the cheerleading teams for the 2022 season of the Eliteserien, Norway’s first division tournament, but a controversial situation surrounds the club’s facilities. In the last hours, surprising images were revealed where Patrik Gunnarsson, Icelandic goalkeeper, appears, reducing the size of his goal.

The controversial information was shared by Aftenposten, a renowned newspaper in the Norwegian territory. According to what was expressed by the aforementioned source, the goalkeeper decided to reduce the distance between his vertical posts by between 15 and 20 centimeters each time he had to play as a local, at the SR-Bank Arena.

The evidence has been convincing and demonstrates the actions of the member of the Viking FK: the cameras captured the precise moment in which he was mobilizing the arch that he covered. According to the journalistic report, the athlete took advantage of the minutes after the usual review that the referees did to the goal.

For now, the Norwegian League authorities have not determined a punishment for Patrik Gunnarsson, although he has denied that it is a way to take advantage. “It’s just a ritual that I have before games, it’s something that makes me feel comfortable. It is not more than that. I just kick the bars a little bit”, he explained.

It is worth mentioning that Viking FK have not lost at home so far this season, which coincides with the number of times the goalkeeper took the opportunity to reduce the size of the goal. So far, the club has played six home games, won four and tied two; while he recorded 12 goals for and only two against.

How is Viking doing in the Norwegian league?

Viking FK’s season got off to a brilliant start as they emerged as one of the championship leaders. However, the team lost the step in the last three dates: they tied two games and lost another. Due to the negative balance, the club is in third place, with 21 points, three behind the leader Lilleström.
