Murray does not see it possible that Nadal can be surpassed in titles at Roland Garros

Rafael Nadal’s new title at Roland Garros, the fourteenth of his career, has generated various comments. One of those who also spoke was the former number one in the world, Andy Murray, who assured that it is unimaginable that the manacori’s title record could be surpassed one day.

“Winning the same Grand Slam tournament 14 times is just incredible”declared Murray.

“(Carlos) Alcaraz is 19 years old, so he should win Roland Garros every year until he is 33 years old to reach 14 titles. I don’t think that can happen.” he said about the young Spaniard, whom many see as Nadal’s successor.

“Virtually no player on the circuit will have the opportunity to play Roland Garros 14 times, let alone win it (14 times)”, continued the current No. 68 in the world, who will face Australian Christopher O’Connell, 116th in the world, in the first round of the German tournament.

Nadal’s joy

Rafael Nadal won his fourteenth Roland Garros title after beating Casper Ruud (3-0). The Spanish tennis player faced this new tournament with constant pain in his left foot due to the chronic injury he suffers and, because of him, he knows that if he wants to achieve more, he must seek some remedy.

“I can’t continue competing with my foot asleep, we have to find a solution. I would love to continue competing, so next week I am going to speak with several doctors and consider various options, ” mentioned in a press conference after his victory.

In that sense, he indicated that he will undergo therapy. “I will receive a radiofrequency treatment and I hope it will help me to reduce the pain. My doctor has given me several injections into the nerves in my foot. I am playing without pain, but also without sensations. The problem is accepting all the things you have to do.”he added.
