“The World Cup is stained if Ecuador goes”: Chile’s lawyer on the Castillo case

A few days until the Case Byron Castillo is resolved, the ANFP’s lawyer, Eduardo Carlezzo, hopes that the FIFA ruling favors the Chilean team and they can attend the world Cup of Qatar 2022.

“I have no doubt that we would have a favorable decision for Chile if the groups were not drawn, if this were in January. But thinking about the current situation, with tickets sold, travel packages, the easiest decision is to keep everything as it is”Carlezzo declared at a press conference.

“It would be scandalous if FIFA does not consider all this burden. I have been representing almost a thousand cases in FIFA for 20 years and rarely have I seen such a heavy burden of proof. It’s a lot of stuff”he added.

“We hope that it will be a technical decision, that it goes deeper into the evidence, that it understands, above all, what the scope of habeas data is. If there is an impartial investigation of what was ruled in Ecuador, the resolution can only be one, favorable to Chile. If Ecuador goes to the World Cup, the World Cup is stained”concluded forcefully the lawyer.

WHEN WILL THE JUDGMENT OF THE CASTILLO CASE BE KNOWN

After the Chilean Football Federation (ANFP) presented its claim about the alleged misalignment of the defender of the Ecuadorian team, Byron Castillo; FIFA investigated and will announce the ruling next Friday, June 10, according to Chile’s TNT Sports.

Initially, the highest entity in international football was going to deliver the ruling on June 14, however, they decided to advance the announcement. The ANFP will be on the lookout, since it stated that the footballer made “use of a false birth certificate.”
