Mohamed Salah recalled the final against Real Madrid: “We deserved to win”

Mohamed Salah was one step away from touching the glory of the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool, however, Real Madrid won (1-0) the decisive match at the Stade de France. Two weeks have passed since that final and the Egyptian striker still remembers it as if it were yesterday.

The attacker indicated that the ‘Reds’ generated several opportunities to draw. However, he recognized the great saves of the white box goalkeeper who became the figure of commitment.

“We deserved to win, we had more chances. I had two or three pretty clear, but Thibaut Courtois made amazing saves. It’s his job, Real Madrid hired him for that. It was his night”said Mohamed Salah in statements with French Football.

Likewise, he highlighted the virtues of Karim Benzema. “Not only does he see himself as a net goalscorer, but he influences every aspect of his team’s game. Like many, he wants to be considered the best footballer in the world.”narrowed down

The ‘Gato’ is one of the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or at the end of the season. However, Salah is also on that list of possible candidates, although the Egyptian mentioned that if he fails to win the award this year, he will continue to strive.

“The defeat against Madrid is a disadvantage, although I played a good game in the final. That does not take away everything I have achieved in recent months, we have to wait for the jury’s vote. If I am not the Ballon d’Or in 2022, I will do everything possible to be the next one”he added.
