PSG responds for Mbappé’s renewal: Parisians under the scrutiny of UEFA’s financial fair play experts

The renovation of Kylian Mbappe with PSG still having repercussions. The Parisian club confirmed it has responded to a request for information about its accounts that was sent by UEFA’s financial fair play experts, reported Thursday from France.

According to the newspaper L’Equipe, the Club Financial Control Agency (ICFC) sent a formal request for additional information several weeks ago after having examined their accounts, just like those of other entities.

The club, which lost 224.3 million euros during the 2020-21 season, pointed out that it sent the requested information and that there is no open procedure against it.

The president of the Spanish Professional Football League (LFP), Javier Tebas, recently questioned whether PSG can finance the renewal of its star Kylian Mbappé with the multimillion-dollar figures that were being published, taking into account the losses he has had and his high wage bill.

In Tebas’ opinion, behind this there could be “traps” regarding the rules of financial fair play that teams must respect to guarantee a fair competition.

The information on the additional information requested by UEFA comes a day after the LFP announced in Madrid the filing of a complaint with the European body against PSG, which joins another against Manchester City in April, on “understanding that these clubs are continually failing to comply with the current financial ‘fair play’ regulations”.

The LFP “considers that these practices alter the ecosystem and the sustainability of football, harm all European clubs and leagues, and only serve to artificially inflate the market, with money not generated in football itself,” he explained in a statement. .

The Spanish League added that it has contracted law firms in France and Switzerland “with the aim of undertaking administrative and judicial actions before the competent French bodies and before the European Union as soon as possible.”
