Chile’s appeal is delayed: FIFA has not yet delivered a sentence in the Byron Castillo case

Almost two weeks ago, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee issued its resolution Bryon Castillo case rejecting the claim of Chili and keeping to Ecuador in the World Cup Qatar 2022. However, Chilean desks are still waiting for the sentence to be sent with the grounds to later make an appeal, according to ‘Redgol’.

In the statement from the highest body in world football, it was said that “the parties have ten days to request a reasoned decision”, an action that Chile has already carried out and, as we mentioned above, is still waiting to receive said documentation for later. go to the FIFA Appeals Committee.

“The relevant thing now will be to know why they came to that decision. When we have the details in our hands, we will know how to proceed. The game is open, we will continue to investigate, we will gather more evidence. We are sure of what we are doing, we know that the player was born in Tumaco, that everything that happened is very serious and therefore requires the firm hand of FIFA,” said Eduardo Carlezzo, a lawyer for the National Professional Football Association (ANFP).

This delay is beginning to cause concern on Chilean soil, given that there are only five months left before the start of the World Cup and time could play against them if they still dream of competing in said tournament.

“With everything we have in hand, our biggest enemy is that the World Cup is there. The investigation of the Colombian Federation is not being considered,” Carlezzo added a few weeks ago.

It is worth mentioning that the judges who resolved the Bryon Castillo case were Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, president of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, and Thomas Hollerer (Austria) and Mark Anthony Wade (Bermuda) as members of the deciding committee.
